IDFA Documentary Workshop 2009

Amsterdam, March 10, 2009 IDFA Documentary Workshop 2009 The IDFA Documentary Workshop 2009 begins in May. The workshop is organized annually in collaboration with the Media Fund (Dutch Cultural Media Production Stimulation Fund). Participants work on a film plan for a 50-minute documentary. This year, the workshop is also open to plans that have the potential to expand to the internet. Director John Appel has agreed to serve as workshop leader for the second consecutive time in this renewed format. During the course of the program, two mentors will be added to provide specific expert guidance to the participants. The success of the workshop is evident from the many films realized that stemmed from ideas developed during the workshop. It has become a tradition to screen these documentaries on the big screen during IDFA: in 2008, the festival presented six new documentaries originating from the workshop. The prize, a cash amount of €125,000, is made available annually by the Media Fund and is intended for the realization of the best film plan developed in the Documentary Workshop. The workshop is subsidized and co-organized by the Media Fund. The organization calls upon creative, unconventional makers to submit their plans for the 2009 workshop. The deadline is March 23. ________________________________________________________ Titia Vuyk, Communications Staff Member Media Fund - Stimulus Fund for Dutch Cultural Media Productions Herengracht 609, 1017 CE Amsterdam Tel 020 623 39 01 [email protected] http://www.mediafonds.nl
